Pakistan

MSSP priests take care of a parish which lies in the perifery, where a big number of parishioners work in factories or fields. The MSSP missionaries run a girls school here, in a culture where girls and boys are treated differently

It is common practice in Pakistan not to allow girls to further their studies. Often girls as young at 12 years old are made to stop attending school, get married or help in household chores. The missionaries here:

  • Opened a school for girls, giving them the opportunity to study and presenting them with a certificate upon finishing their schooling, thus promoting women’s rights.
  • They have created the right environment, where Catholics and Muslims study and learn together.
  • They have set up communities for Catholic minorities to help give them support and also an identity.
